Checkmate, Charleston

Well, would ya look at that! After dooming for a solid seven straight days coming into this one, RIFC pulled off one of the bigger upsets this season taking down the Charleston Battery 1-0 Saturday night.

After the 3-0 loss to Hartford, you would have thought the sky was falling from above us. We did a 2(!!!) hour podcast which Matt correctly referred to as a funeral last night. But when their backs are against the wall, this team has a knack for showing up.

Limiting one of the best offenses in the league to only 5 shots and only 2 on target is no small feat. Combine that with a gorgeous goal and it was a performance to be proud of for The Tide.

Is this a one off? Will we see this team revert back to what we saw in Hartford? Only time will tell but if you’re going to turn it around you need to start somewhere.
