Home Sweet Home

The Tide battle to a 0-0 draw in a historic home opener

What. A. Day.

With such high expectations for Saturday, there were many ways the day could have been ruined. What if parking is a mess? What about traffic? Will the ticketing work? Will people be into the match? And the game. What about the actual game!?

Rest assured folks, it was everything we could have hoped for and more. The energy at the stadium was truly incredible. There was a feeling of optimism and excitement that I wish I could capture and sell. Even torrential downpour in the 88th minute couldn’t stop this from being one of the greatest days ever. The only thing missing was a last minute winner with the rainbow overhead. But maybe that is just the stuff of fairytales.

Shoutout to the team, front office and stadium staff for Saturday. This was the culmination of the work of thousands of people on display Saturday and it was nothing short of impressive. Centreville Bank Stadium is something that Rhode Islanders can be proud of and that they can call home.

Postmatch Points

Matt Hands gives us his key takeaways from this one. I’m biased but I loved hearing about Matt’s experience handing out the first ever Defiance 1636 paddle at Centreville Bank Stadium to a well-deserving AST

Player Ratings

Timmy is back with his player ratings. I have my usual gripes with them but that’s the joy of player ratings, we all see the game a bit differently. Love that Timmy was able to work in some of Matt’s awesome photography in this one.

The Tide Talk Show

Matt and I had a blast talking through a historic first day at Centreville Bank stadium. We got to hear Matt’s experience having media credentials, a lot of listener’s personal experience and got into the performance of the team. Make sure to like this video so that YouTube shows it to more people!

Stay tuned to our socials this week as we turn our attention to that lot from Foxborough who are coming to Pawtucket Wednesday night.

Up the Tide!
