On to Oakland
The Tide head to The Coliseum to take on the Oakland Roots
With RIFC playing today’s match in the historic Oakland Coliseum, I’d love to make some nods to great Greek battles or one of my favorite movies of all time Gladiator (not Gladiator II). Unfortunately, both team’s seasons so far have mostly resembled a Greek Tragedy.
Two teams, zero wins, 10th and 12th places in their conferences. Not great Bob! Will Athena bless The Tide with the wisdom to not make defensive mistakes? Will Artemis look over our transitions in attack? Will JJ Williams reappear as Hercules and win the day?
At the end of the day, hopefully it is RIFC who is blessed by Nike, the goddess of victory. Lets all pray to Poseidon that The Tide is high.
If you somehow made it through that, make sure to join the Defiance 1636 at The Guild in Pawtucket for this one! Win, lose or draw it’s always a great time.
Lord of the Tides
With such a stellar March, I know that everyone was on the edge of their seat on who was going to win the coveted Lord of the Tides this month. Check out Andrew’s Tide Chart below where he dives into why JJ Williams was the worthy (and probably only eligible) recipient for this month’s award.
Open Cup Draw
In other RIFC news, The Tide have entered the US Open Cup in the third round of the tournament against none other than the Portland Hearts of Pine. Matt Hands dives into the draw and why so many of us are excited to make the trip up to Maine.

Sticking with Mr. Hands, check out his Prematch Beacon getting us ready for this one.
The 🐐 has you covered as always with his Pre-Match Essentials on Reddit. Give. Him. An Upvote.
Matt and I sat down with Jonathan from RootsBlog to get the opposition take on this one. Jonathan is one of our favorite guests that we’ve had on the show and RootsBlog is a big inspiration for what we’re doing on the Tide Talk site.
Up The Tide!
