Phrustration in Phoenix (I’m sorry)
RIFC draw 2-2 with Phoenix Rising FC
It’s been a few days now and I really can’t shake the frustration with Saturday night’s game. I’ve watched it twice, did a podcast about it and I still can’t get over our second half performance.
While there were plenty of bright spots in this one like Sanchez’s offense, some great saves from Koke and all things JJ Williams, we seem to be seeing some of the same issues the team dealt with in it’s worst times last season.
Conceding on corners and crosses, extremely reactionary defending, a missing midfield at times and wasteful in front of goal were all hallmarks of early RIFC. Obviously, last season ended well but I’m looking forward to the team taking a step forward and putting a lot of this in the past to become the contenders that they should be.
We’re on to Loudoun and that means it’s Away End time. Join Matt and I tonight at 8:30 to preview this one. Is there another borderline unwatchable draw in store? God, I hope not.
To the Content:
Timmy is back with his Player Ratings which were mostly good. This might be the nicest sentence I’ve ever written about the Player Ratings.
Andrew, Matt Hands and Timmy joined Matt K and I to celebrate 100 episodes of Tide Talk and talk all things RIFC v. Phoenix Rising.
A sincere thank you to everyone who has ever spent a second listening to us yap about our beloved team. Getting to do this is both extremely fun and something that I don’t take for granted at all.
Up the Tide!
