The Highs and Lows of Derby Day
RIFC draw 0-0 with H*rtford Athletic
Well that sure was a soccer game! In a day filled with great vibes, high energy and Chip bobbleheads, it ended with a poor performance and even poorer post-game antics.
On the pitch, it was more of the same for RIFC this season. A lot of slow possession lacking courage. The ball aimlessly hanging out in the middle-third of the pitch, exactly where Hartford felt comfortable.
In a game where Hartford came to draw, RIFC gave them exactly what they would have wanted. A few strange subs and some standout performances from Hugo Bacharach and JJ Williams couldn’t get The Tide over the line in the first “El Clamico” at Centreville Bank Stadium.
After the match, the Hartford keeper celebrated like he won the World Cup after a 3 save performance and wrote his name into the history books of this rivalry. I’m sure he’ll be getting a warm welcome next Saturday.
With tempers flared, some boiled to a place that is never acceptable. You can dislike what’s happening on the pitch but throwing things at players or trying to fight opposing fans has no place in our team culture.
Riptide Report
Hands is back with the Riptide Report. I appreciated his attempt at positivity in this one.
Player Ratings
Speaking of positivity, there’s almost none in Timmy’s Player Ratings this week.
The Tide Talk Show
Andrew, Hands and I got into the nitty gritty of this one. The game, the post-match events, the noise record and more were all covered in this one.
We’ll be back later in the week so preview this weekend’s match against…. H*rtford Athletic.
Up the Tide!
