IT’S MATCHDAY, FOLKS. It’s arguably the most important four days of the season for Rhode Island FC. A chance to move on to the finals of the Jägermeister Cup, a pivotal match against Indy Eleven who are our direct playoff rivals and the first ever Tide Talk x Raising Anchor collaboration show.

That’s right - make sure your clothes from Saturday are finally dry and get on down to High Motor Bar & Grille in Pawtucket to pregame with Defiance 1636, including a live show with Tide Talk and Raising Anchor. Raining L’s in Rhode Island

I think it is fair to say that we are no longer the Official Bogey Team™ of Louisville City. After being the only team to notch multiple wins against the eventual Player’s Shield winners last year, RIFC have now fallen twice to the Purple People.

On an incredibly rainy night, Rhode Island had a decent showing holding Louisville to just one shot on target for the night. The issue? That shot on target led to a world class goal/incredibly lucky cross that made it an uphill battle the rest of the evening for a side that has struggled all season to score.

A trip to the finals on the line

While this has been a disappointing season in the league, our run to the Jägermeister Cup Semi Finals has been a clear bright spot. Can the boys do it one more time tonight to get a change for a second trophy in two years?

It’ll be tough sledding against one of the best teams in the league this season, Sacramento Republic. Like Rhode Island, they’ve been incredibly stout defensively this season conceding just 17 goals in 22 games. The trick? They do this weird thing where they also score goals. I wasn’t aware you’re allowed to do both.
