The seven seed taking on the two seed was always going to be an uphill battle. The fact that RIFC had travelled to Charleston about 12 months ago to advance to the USL Championship Final helped, but there was no doubt that this Charleston team was favored.

Coach Khano put together a fantastic game plan to nullify what makes Charleston tick and the boys brought a level of intensity that has felt missing for large parts of this campaign. At a time where they needed to play their best game of the season, they were up to the challenge.

In a match that will be remembered for some exceptional individual performances, it was the team effort that really shined through in this one. It’s one of those performances that reminds you of the Never Say Die attitude that got us all to Believe in this team last year.

Can they do it again? Well, it’s hard not to be excited about their prospects with the big upsets this weekend. However, anything can happen in single-elimination soccer and it’s time to focus the next game in hand. We’ll see you soon, North Carolina.
