RIFC notch their first Jaegermeister Cup win in Westchester

What a beautiful weekend it was for RIFC. On Saturday, the club hosted an open house tournament to really test that Centreville Bank Stadium is ready for prime time. While the weather didn’t fully cooperate, it didn’t take away from how beautiful that stadium is. We’re a mere FOUR days away from being there for a true RIFC game and I can’t wait to see it.

Luckily, the weather gods saved their blessings for Sunday making for a tremendous Rhode Trip. Over 100 RIFC fans made the trip down to Westchester with many seeing the team in person for the first time this season.

With perfect soccer weather, a dominant showing on the pitch and overwhelming support off of it, it made the apizza on the way home taste even better.

Postmatch Points

Matt Hands is back with his new series, the Postmatch Points. While I will always argue with Timmy’s player ratings, Hands nailed his big three callouts from this one. I’m most intrigued to see if RIFC deploy this new formation against San Antonio this weekend.

Player Ratings

One highlight of our Rhode Trip was getting to see Timmy make his player ratings live in person. If you’ve ever wondered what kind of thinking goes into these, I have a 7 minute long video of Timmy debating this which I am more than happy to sell to the highest bidder.

Rhode Island FC kicked off their USL Jägermeister Cup with a strong 4-1 win over Westchester SC. The team's tactical shift to a back four showed promise, and several players delivered notable performances throughout the match.
